2001 Acura Integra 77,000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
So I just bought this car, the power locks don't work. It didn't bother me, because it locks fine with the key manually. My aunt wants to put in a security system with a remote key entry (she doesn't know about the door locks not working, because i know she wouldn't have let me buy the car.) So my question is, what exactly happens when they install the security system? Are they going to be putting in new locks or will I have to get mine fixed first? Also, what would cause them not to work properly? It has a clean carfax, says it's never been in an accident, but we all know those sometimes aren't true. Also, to open the hatch, I have to keep the key turned and lift up. I read the manual and it mentioned this might have to be done, and it could indicate a problem. I'm assuming the entire lock system is just screwy on this car.

Hi CaptainBubbles,

Check the #1 (20A) fuse underdash fuse box.

Does using the passenger side key or the lock/unlock switch works?

Thanks, I'll check it out, am I just looking for a blown fuse?

The locks will make the sound to lock and will sometimes move the locks but won't actually lock the car(for some reason I can't move them manually inside the car...although my manual said something about having to hold the driver side handle to lock it that way. Which I find odd. But I haven't tried it because I just lock it with the key when I get out.)

But, if it's not the fuse, will the locks just get replaced when the security system and keyless entry are installed? I'm just worried about having to pay extra when we go to put it in.

If the actuators or control unit are bad, they have to be replaced when installing the security system. That would be at an additional cost.

To lock the driver door, it either has to be closed or you need to pull the opener, either inner or outer. This is a safety feature to prevent accidental locking of the door when closing.
