Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Volkswagen Golf 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 102000 miles

My timing belt broke on my 2000 Volkswagen GTI 1.8T at 75 MPH...all my valves got bent and there are credit card thick valve slap marks on the piston heads...I dont really know how the connecting rods, crank (stress fractures), and the crank bearing. The cylinder walls on top of the block have chips in it because the exhaust valves slap the cylinder lining....I am getting the head rebuild right now and I just don't know if I should keep the car or get rid of it. Hi there,

With out seeing the damage first hand it is a bit hard to draw a conclusion, but if it was mine i would be inclined to get rid of the car as the damage is rather severe and further problems may just be around the corner.
