Transmission problem
2000 Subaru Outback 4 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 158000 miles

My 2000 Subaru Outback Wagon was crashed into yesterday by someone who fell asleep at the wheel. No one was in our car-it was parked. It was hit head on and I am guessing speed was between 25-35mph-it was a Ford Ranger pickup truck, both his airbags deployed. My concern is the damage to the auto transmission, the differential and other components since the car was physically moved about a car space and a half with the impact. The front end being pushed into the radiator, fan, flywheels. Anything specifically I should be asking for questions of my mechanics? I'm reluctant to have it towed to just a body shop b/c of things that could be overlooked. Is it likely that speed impact would impact the frame/front end and possibly a loss? Trying to ensure I am firing off the right questions. Thanks

That impact at that speed.... your Subaru is most likely going to be totaled.That can cause body damage all the way throughout the vehicle.look for misaligned body lines in the rear doors and the such. The way those engines are, it could have damaged the engine or trans, unfortunaty runniing it will probably be the only way to find out unless there is obvious physical damage.
