Engine Performance problem

Hi,
For the past couple of days engine in my 2000 Sentra would get on 2200 - 2600 RPM when in idle. It seems to happen when engine is hot. When it cools down, rpms in idle stay at around 1000 (mostly a little over).Spark plugs were changed about 6 months ago, so were the ignition coils. Any idea why this might be happening.
