2000 Kia Sportage 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 137000 miles
I changed the plugs and had to replace the valve cover gasket also. Oil was in the last 2 cylinders. Now my car engine is missing and backfires, especially when taking off from a stop.
Would this be because all the oil isn't burned out of the cylinders or do I need to replace the coil packs also.
The coil packs on it are the originals.
Thanks! |

That is a Coil Over Plug correct (One coil per cylinder) I would pull the plugs back out and check the gap on them, one may have gotten shut by accident during shipping or handling, it happens alot. When it is missing, unplug the coils one at a time, when you unplug one that makes no difference in the missing, that is the bad one.If plugs are ok then try swapping that coil to another cylinder and see if the miss moves to that cylinder, if so you know the coil is bad |
