Electrical problem
2000 Ford Windstar 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 84000 miles
Hi, hope you all have a good 4th. The trouble I am having with this van is all I can get out of the rear air ducts is hot air. The front ac and heat and other controls work fine. But cant change the heat to ac in the rear and also the air flow comes from the ceiling vents and not the floor vents. Doesnt matter if I try to change it with the front controls or the ones in the rear. The settings stay in the heat mode with the air flow coming from the roof vents no matter where you adjust your controls too. I took the rear side panel off and if I remove the motor that controls the ac and heat I can manually change it so I know the rear ac and heat work but the motor doesnt change it. I have current to one wire going to the motor when I turn the controller to heat but none have current when I switch to ac. I check one that works the front heat and that only has 3 wires. One was hot all the time, one was hot when switched to heat and I think the other was a ground. But the rear motor has 5 or 6 wires going to it and only one would get hot and that was the one that switches it to heat. I am thinking there should be a hot wire to that motor and also to the one that controls the direction of air flow and since I dont have that, thats why neither one works. So need a little help. Need to know if there is a common problem with these and if I can get a trouble shooting tree to follow and a wiring diagram so I know whats suppose to do what. Thanks again for all the help in the past and future. Dennis |

Thanks for the info. I will pull the other panel off and see if it is there and then check it out. I tried to run a copy off of the wiring diagram you had on put I couldnt make anything out after I printed it. Is there some other way you could send it to me so it would print out like to my email then it would be full size and might copy. The other thing you said was about a scanner. Will that show if that controller is working. Thanks again, Dennis |

Thanks for the additional info. I have an older snap-on scanner but its been updated to 2007 I think, so will try and use it to help check the problem out. You can send any other info to me at techmech57@yahoo.com. Thanks again, Dennis |
