Engine Mechanical problem
2002 Ford Ranger 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 85000 miles

My son was driving our 02 ranger yesterday to work and when he went to the parking lot and tried to start it, the engine would start weakly for a few seconds and die. This happened about 3 or 4 times in a row. I told him over the phone to try to restart it after a couple of hours and it started right up with no problem and he drove it home. Any ideas where to start? I would like to prevent this from happening again.

Check the crankshaft position sensor.
