Engine Performance problem
2001 BMW 530 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 130000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
Replaced the head gasket due to overheating. Followed instruction for the DOHC shaft & timing chains installation. Did not have the special tool for the air pressure through the oil vanos. Vehical starts and seems fine until I accellerate thus hesitation begins. Would skipping the air pressure through the oil vanos cause this and if not what could be the problem causing the hesitation when I attempt to accellerate?

The M-54 motors require special tools to set the vanos in the correct place, you cannot guess at it. They also require tools to set the intermediate chain. You will need to borrow, or buy the aforementioned tools to complete this job.
