Odometer problem
1996 Ford Ranger 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 165,00 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I replaced the sensor on the rear differential, however the problem still exists. The odometer trip and actual mileage work for a tenth of a mile then stops again. What else should I troubleshoot.
Is it a mechanical or electrical sensor? If it is mechanical you can see if the cable inside rotates if you push the car backward or forward. If it is electrical then you might want to check for a broken circuit using a voltmeter. Test for proper voltage on the instrument panel circuit board. Most likely there is a problem with the internals of the guage and it just needs to be repaired or replaced.
