i had an issue where i put a higher amp fuse which cause the fog light light to smoke and melt pretty much all the way up into the fuse box.. when it was smokin i cut all the wiring on the passenger side to stop it from smoking, i tired to rewire everything and it aint going so well.. my parkling lights work, but my high beams come on when i turn the low beam switch on.. my low beam and fog lights dont even work.. i put a volt meter on the low beam wire and im gettin a reading but it doesnt work.. i have the hid kit for the low and fog lights i tested them straight to the battery and they work just fine. just when i plug them into the lowbeam and fog plugs i get nothing. there is a gray wire connected to the parking light then to the back of the headlight, when its disconnected nothing works when it is the parking and high beams come on.. do you think there is a few wires crossed.. can you guide me where to start or a place online to get a wiring diagram to fix the problem?
As a BMW tech who has done that job, the only thing I can say is, replace the harness, P/N 61-11-8-371-686. There is a possibility of obtaining a good used harness from a salvage yard. Try calling (619)444-2290 and talk to John or Sean, it is a BMW/Porsche wrecking yard.
