1996 BMW 323 cranks but wont start

Engine Mechanical problem
1996 BMW 323 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 129000 miles

i have a 94 320 body with a 96 323 engine fitted. full loom etc was fitted, recently the car has stopped starting off the key,,but will go with a push. when going it drives perfect. the diagnostic report showed that the crankshaft sensor was gone which i replaced.
fuel pump is working. but the car cranks untill the battery dies..the coils are fine,,all the sensors are fine fuel pump works so why wont my car start???its a mystery to me any help is appreciated thanks..

Jumper the clutch switch and see what happens

A 1996 has EWS and it may require realignment or replacement.

is this to do with an immobiliser?? and how can it be reset?

The EWS is the drive away protection that compares the information stored in the key to the car. Sometimes that communication becomes irregular and the EWS requires realignment. This can be performed by the dealer or an independent BMW agency. Either way, you will be visiting a repair facility, choose one that you feel comfortable with, one that has the needed equipment to perform these repairs.
