1995 BMW 525
----------------------------------------------------------------
I am changing the serpentine/drive belt on my 1995 bmw 525i and I cant get the tensioner to release.Wne I tug on the belt I can see it moving but it doesnt move enough to do the install.the AC side was really straight foward simply crank the tensioner bolt and it moved. I can see the tensioner but the adjusting bolt is behind a black plastic wheel that Icant seem to remove. Any help in getting my car back together is appreciated!!
The tension pulley has a cap on it. Pop the cap off and then you will be able to see the bolt for the tensioner, turn the bolt to the right and the tension decreases and you can replace your belt. I usually do not reinstall the cap because I am lazy and the cap serves no purpose other than vanity. Get in behind it with a screw driver.
