My beloved 1994 Ranger just started acting up by deciding when it wants to start. I depress the clutch, turn the key and hear "click." Over the past few days, it has become more and more common, but today the old girl would not start. I have hooked up a voltmeter, but turning the key does not seem to draw from the battery when the click happens. With the lights on, they do not even dim. Is it the solenoid?

Power is not being supplied to the solenoid if there is no voltage drop.

You should check the ignition switch and starter relay.
