Electrical problem

I replaced the gas tank filler tube. Truck would not start. Introduced 'engine start' spray and it would start but not keep running. I removed fuel tank again with wiring attached and open hose from pump visible. I turned the ignition on. Fuel pumped for about 2 seconds and stopped. Is the pump operation right or should I replace it? If it is right, do I need to prime the system some how?

it should run only about 2 seconds just enough for he pump to prime he fuel system.

once its primed the vehicle is ready to start.
