Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Acura TL 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 130,00 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
My Acura has been acting up sporadically and I need some help to diagnosis the problem.
At first, when I went to crank the engine (after parking/off for 45 minutes) it would barely crank up and immediately sound as if it was going to die. RPMs would be very low and I would have to pump the gas pedal until it smoothed out. No engine or indicator lights would appear. I could cut if off and re-crank and it would do the same thing. Once I put the transmission in drive, it would smooth out and drive perfectly fine.
This happened several times throughout the next few months, with no rhyme or reason as to when it would happen or why it would happen.
Recently, I parked the car for an hour and re-cranked. This time when I went to re-crank the engine it sounded as if it was trying hard to turn over but possibly wasn't getting any gas to the engine. I tried to re-crank multiple times and nothing would happen. Finally, after pumping the gas pedal countless times, it cranked up and once again started at very low RPMs and tried to die out. As long as I gave it some gas, it would stay cranked and then finally worked itself out and would stay cranked without any additional gas. Once again, when I put the transmission in drive, the car worked perfectly fine.
After the local Acura dealership tried to diagnosis the problem they tried to tell me I needed to replace my transmission. I told them they were crazy because the transmission wasn't even in motion when the problem occurred and I just had my transmission replaced, by them, under warranty, 30,000 miles ago.
Any ideas or clues to help me diagnosis the problem? THANKS!
