1999 Vauxhall Astra brakes seem stuck on

Brakes problem
1999 Vauxhall Astra 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 60000 miles

after driving in wet conditions i stopped the car for 10 minutes then went out in it again and it was as though the brakes were continually on. When i went to free wheel the car could stop by itself without me applying the brakes at all. bad smell of burning rubber after 5 minutes of driving to get back home. could the brake pads be stuck?

most likely rear shoes are binding .. have a mechanic take a look asap
