Computer problem
1999 Saab 9-3 repair Question 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 75000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
My car was running fine. I parked it for an hour and now it will not start. All the fuses are good, I can smell gas so I don't think thats the issue. A friend thinks it might be the DICE computer under the dash, or possibly the TWICE(?) computer under the drivers seat. We changed the computer under the dash on the passenger side. No luck. Any suggestions??

I can smell gas so I don't think thats the issue. My question here is -Is it the correct fuel pressure-EFI system are very picky in its pressure.

Try doing below and see what happens

Get a carb cleaner and spray into the carb or the throttle body on an EFI. Did it start and die? If not disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel pump/pressure regulator/filter and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light.

If both fuel and spark is present-check the valve and ignition timing, this will lead you to problems with compression and valves opening and closing at the wrong time

I disconnected the direct ignition and got no spark. I also put gas directly into the throttle body. No luck. That is why I think it may be a computer problem that is preventing the coil or plugs in the direct ignition from firing. Thanks for any help you can give me!
