Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Saab 9-3 repair Question 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 145,00 miles

A large franchised garage recently changed the oil in my 99 Saab 900. it was part of a routine/sceduled maintenance appointment. The invoice showed they used a 5W/30 motor oil. I called to ask why such a low viscosity. I was told that they always use 5W/30 in Saab's.

After only 175 miles the engine suddenly started to spew blue smoke. Do you think the smoke is related to the light weight oil... and what can I do about it.

Also, what do you think the problem is that is causing the smoke?
