Noises problem

I just did a scheduled oil change. All was fine until the following day a ticking noise was heard coming from the number 2 cylinder. Oil level is fine and no leaks are observed. What would be the most obvious to check for based on the year and mileage and your experience? I almost think it's a lifter or maybe just a spring that has broken. There seems to be a loss of acceleration as well, although subtle.
I drive the car hard and she loves it. I hope it's a simple fix.
