Engine Performance problem
1999 Mercury Tracer 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 144123 miles

WHEN I STARE THE CAR . I HEAR A KNOCKING ON THE LEFT OR RIGHT SIDE OF THE ENGINE AND SOME TIME SEEN LIKE THE SOUND COMING FROM THE MUFLER ON THE MIDLE PART. SOON I PUT IT ON DRIVE THE SOUND GOES AWAY. AND DON'T SOUND ANY MORE .WHAT COULD THAT BE THE PROBLEM?
