1999 Jeep Cherokee Door Locks

Interior problem
1999 Jeep Cherokee 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 118000 miles

I'm having a problem with my power door locks. My front passenger side door does not always lock/unlock when I use the automatic locks. Instead, it makes a loud whirring sound and nothing happens. I am able to manually lock/unlock the door however.
