Heater problem
1999 GMC Sonoma 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 125000 miles
My '99 GMC Sonoma with a 2.2L 4-cylinder does not come up to the engine temperature it always had in the past. The temperature gauge will only get up to about 160F. This gauge reading seems to be accurate because the heater/defrost does not get very warm. I thought the thermostate may be faulty (i.e. stuck open) and recirculating the coolant all of the time so I replaced it with a new one and it made no difference. Also the coolant level was at the proper level. The radiator has a direct drive cooling fan, not an electric motor driven fan. Also the truck is equipped with air conditioning which is working fine. Any thoughts on why it does not get hotter??
