1999 Ford F250 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 107000 miles

I have a problem with my dash not reading the miles, when the dash board heats up the mileage goes away, I just bought the truck so I don't know how long its been doing this for, is there any other way to figure out how many miles are on the truck? or how to get the reading working again? thanks!
