Computer problem
1999 Ford F150 V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 124900 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
We have a 99 f-250 that has had a lot of problems lately. We purchased it used and put it on the computer first thing. Got a code #8 misfire and changed all the plugs and wires and that was no help. Now when going up hills it starts to buck really bad, but when you accelerate, it stops. So we went to have the computer scanner hooked up to it and it won't read. Most places scanners won't even power up. There is also an Avistart romote control box hooked up (which has never worked) and the mechanics said that there could be a bad wire or something coming from the box that could keep the scanner from reading. We can't even find out how to diconnect it, because it is hooked to the ignition. If all of the wire are disconnected the truck won't even start. PLEASE PLEASE HELP
First, most remote starters have plugs that plug into the remote box, just unplug em. then check ALL fuses under the hood, especially the the ones marked PCM, ECM, or ECU.
Like Merlin says, the fuses are "usually" the answer a communication error. IF you have any problems, post if it is a f150 or f250 and the liter size of the motor and any questions.
