your answer does not answer my question Salva. I know the vacuum pump is connected to the timing gears and the power steering pump is attached to the vacuum pump.
now, the vacuum pump has to produce vacuum. the vacuum pump has to suck air to create a vacuum. the hole where the vacuum sucks air in order to create a vacuum,
thats where the vacuum hoses
are attached, now the hose, which sometimes called vacuum lines goes towards the back near the firewall which we call it the wall between the inside of the cab and the engine.
now my question again is , where are those vacuum hoses or vacuum lines connected to
or where they are attached to aside from being connected to the vacuum pump
as i said the vacuum lines is connected to the vacuum pump then it goes towards the drivers side then go acroos the left and then goes inside the cab. and i say again, there is a vacuum line dangling in there where i dont know where they are connected.

You should have decal with vacuum hose routing
on inner hood or radiator support my manuals refer to the decal for routing.
Or you will have follow the hose into the cab there must be a manifold block that that hose connects too with taps for heater controls and other vacuum devices connect to .Brake booster should have priority.
You should hear the vacuum leak with the engine running.
The more precise the question the better the answer

o.k. here it is,
dodge 2500 cummins diesel dont use vacuum brake booster.
it is hydraulic brake booster which the power steering provides.
now for the vacuum line that is dangling near the hydraulic booster it has vacuum constant of 10 in-hg
the problem is i can not find where it is connected to
i might have to wash the gunk
to see if there is any taps in there. by the way all the vacuum lines that goes inside the cab that controls heater are o.k. , and the decals are gone on the hood and rad supports.

Some gas trucks also use to use hydraulic boosters, I did not think of that,as you were talking brake booster. Some trucks have a vacuum reservoir it is in the shape of round ball most of the time. My manuals don't give detail only refer to decal for vacuum routing.
