Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Dodge Avenger 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 61000 miles
Thanks for answering my question. The other day I pulled up to a red light the engine was at idle and boom dead. No rough idle or engine light nothing. Electrical remained on but the engine just stopped. I put it back in park and it started right up.
Tonight again while I was driving I took my foot off the gas and the engine stopped for a second RPM dropped to zero and then reagained and continued driving home. No engine light is on and the car continues to have electrical power when this happens. Any ideas what it could be?
Hi:
It sounds like it could be the throttle position sensor. However, before replacing potentially good parts, I recommend having the computer scanned for codes. Most nationally recognized parts stores will do it for free.
