Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Chrysler Sebring 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 79562 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
Hello,
Can anyone help me figure out what is wrong with my Chrysler Sebring convertible?
The problem began last fall, after I filled up with Safeway gas (although I don't know if if's a coincidence or not). It started occasionally "shuddering" or misfiring, but was pretty sporadic. In Jan., I brought it into the Chrysler shop, and they have tried many things to fix the problem, to no avail.
First, they replaced the EGR valve. They have done a fuel injector service, replaced the spark plugs (which were platinum, so shouldn't have needed it for another 25,000 miles). I believe they replaced the distributor also. A "service engine soon" light finally showed up, and that said the idle speed was too high, and they fixed some seal that was causing that. The light went away, but the shuddering persists.
Recently, the engine has actually died a couple of times after first shuddering. It always dies when I'm at a stoplight, not moving. The last time, I had to turn the engine over a couple of times before it would start back up, so the problem is actually getting worse!
After spending $1500 to supposedly "fix" this problem, I am at my wits end!!
Can anyone tell me what is wrong with my car??
