Drive Train Axles Bearings problem

I have two chevys 6500's. They are a 99' and 2000 which when makeing a turn they seem to snap at the rear end which throws the truck to the left or right. It does'nt happen all the time and it does'nt matter if the trucks are loaded or if they are empty. Our mechanic says the "detroit rear end" causes this and they are o.k. to operate. When these trucks were purchased we actually took them back to the dealer and they said the same thing. I have an employee who has driven these trucks through the years and now he says they are unsafe. I got on his case because he was only haulin 4 ton of material instead of 5.

those are good sized vehicles, they wont handle like a car.

i would check the bearings in the rear and thats as good as its gonna get.
