SO I go to add more coolant and as soon as I poured it in it just came pouring right back out! My Hoses are fine, could someone please tell me what this could be so when I go to the garage I dont get ripped? My husband is in Iraq & I dont want to go to the garage & act like I have no clue & get ripped off. THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE! |

First lets see where the leak is...I am assuming you are adding coolant directly to the radiator....Start by moving your truck away from the coolant already on the ground...It's ok to move it a few feet and then shut it off..Add some water -- not coolant -- because water is cheaper. Add it slowly and pin point where it is coming from..If it is too hard to see, observe where on the fresh ground is it dripping? EX. right front - left front - front - back..
If you are adding coolant to the coolant reservoir, then add some water and look close for a crack in the reservoir tank...Let me know what you find.. |

That is where the weep hole for the water pump is located. You most likely need a new water pump. When the bearing inside of the water pump fails -(and they do around 150000 or so)- the weep hole will break open and water will spill out there. It is a good idea to change the upper, lower, and bypass radiator hoses along with the water pump. Also, changing the thermostat may be a good idea, because typically with a failed water pump there is bound to be some type of contamination in the coolant. This could cause the t-stat to stick or fail.
Thank you and bless you and your husband -- May he return soon.. |
