Suspension problem
1999 Cadillac STS V8 Front Wheel Drive Automatic 100k miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
Hi,

I need some help. I took the 99 sts to the dealer and I was told i need a BPMV and air ride control module($3200.00 repair). So they tried to sell me a new car. Anyway I ordered a used bpmv and ebtcm from a recycler which needs to be installed. I also bought a recycled ride control mod.

My question is the car gives me code c1738 which is an exhaust solenoid valve issue. How do I correct this issu? Do I really need the ride control module replaced? I plugged it in and there was no response from the suspension. Is it likely I need a new suspension pump rather than a module? Also how do I replace the exhaust solenoid valve? Is this on the ride compressor? Is it likely the suspension shuts down due to the bpmv being out?? I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks

Hi dcampo
The exhaust valve is an intregal part of ride air compressor and cannot be replaced the compressor needs to be replaced.
The BPMV is related to brake pressure module valve located left front engine comartment under air cleaner. I don't see any connection of the two events. Hope this helps

Hi,

Thank you for the info. I went to pull the compressor and while I was doing so I cleaned the plugs and now I get a 3 - 4 second humming sound from the compressor when I turn the key. If I start the car I hear a constant buzzing sound from under the car but it does not seem like it is from the compressor. I loaded the car with a couple of friends and the suspension did not rise. Is the problam still a bad compressor? Also any idea of what the buzzing/humming sound could be? It seems to come from the center of the rear behind the coil spring but not from the fender well near the compressor.

Thanks
David
