1999 BMW 328 trouble codes

Computer problem
1999 BMW 328 6 cyl 100 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
last week i had a sign on the dash board near the P sign its like a small gear with an ! in the middle of the it
i had it on the scanner it read the fault *CAN break light*
can you please help me on this

Yes, I think this possibly a bad brake light switch. repost if that is not right.
