1998 Volvo S70 Evaporator Core

Air Conditioning problem
1998 Volvo S70 Front Wheel Drive Automatic 109000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
Leak in A/C is coming out of the evaporator core. Mechanic says to get to it dash has to come out (7.5 hours of work) and it is going to run around $1100! Is this anywhere near reasonable?

Yes it is a shop rate of say $80 hr. and @$500 in parts
