i NEED TO REPLACE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS ON A 523i. CAN THIS BE DONE WITHOUT SPECIALIST TOOLS ?

Yes you can replace the front wheel bearings without special tools most of the time. I strongly recommend purchasing a repair manual. Bentley manuals are available from Amazon.com
