Engine Performance problem
1998 Oldsmobile 88 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 238,00 miles
Hi,
My Olds has 238,000 miles on it. I have an excellent trusted mechanic that has maintained my care for the last several years.
My questions:
(1) What types of maintenance should I have done to ensure the car will last at least 300,000 miles or more?
(2) What exactly is involved in a complete tune-up?
Thanks,
John |

300K is a lot of miles. There is no way to be 100% sure anything will keep it going, but make sure to continue changing the oil, keep filters clean, make sure the fluids are clean and full and the same with the transmission.
A complete tune up is viewed differently by different mechanics. In general, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and any filter (air / fuel) needing replaced or belts. |
