Electrical problem
1998 Nissan Sentra 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 140000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I tried to pull codes for my little car, and the computer gives up a 05-05 code. I saw somewhere that might indicate a problem with my IAC-ACC Valve, whatever that is. The issue with the car is it turns over and it sounds like it wants to fire up, but it doesnt. I replaced the distributor as that has been replaced 3 times before so I assumed it was that. I also replaced the cap and rotor. I thought it could be a clogged fuel filter or fuel line, but I never had a hesitation problem so I ruled those issues out. I also ruled out plugs and plug wire issues as I figured if that was the issue, it would have at least started, but it would have ran rough. Of course, Im not a mechanic so these are my presumptions. Someone tell me what they think.
Thanks!!!

not to sound stupid..but I am when it comes to cars...how do i get to the inside of the throttle and where is it? If it was a car from the 70's no prob, but I don't know that much about fuel injected cars.

it would be where the air cleaner hooks up to the motor, where the accelerator cables go have someone push on the gas petal and watch for movement, thats where you throttle plates will be

OK. I tried to squirt some cleaner in there. I removed the hose and did my best to squirt it on the plate inside, both while it was open and again while it was closed. It was a little difficult as it is horizontal. I got cleaner everywhere so I will wait for it to dry up a bit, then I will put it all back together and pour some water on the engine as I am afraid of engine fires with that cleaner being so flamable. Also, found that stupid valve and it was 'anti-freeze" green inside so I poured some cleaner in that too and let it hang in an attempt to clean that as well.

I tried it and kept it in the start position with the gas pedal on the floor just incase it was flooded. The longer I kept it in the start position, the faster and faster the starter started to try and turn over. After 2 minutes in the start position, it sounded like the engine wasn't getting any gas so I pumped it a few times and it fired up. I let off the gas and it immediately died. I did the process over again and it fired it up and I left it at 3,000 RPMs will there was no more smoke coming from the exhaust. Car runs fine now, but does shudder everyonce in a while. I don't know if it was flooded, or the throttle was dirty or if it was that valve. Don't know, don't care...Just glad it works )
Thanks!!!
