Air Conditioning problem
1998 Nissan Pathfinder 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 160000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
The a/c only works when the fan is on "4" (of 1,2,3,4). The fan blows just fine there, but nothing comes out (a/c or regular air) until it gets to "4".
Thanks!

I don't work on cars -- I just wanted some information for when I take it to a repair guy -- I don't want to be completely ignorant. I just need an idea of what it might be in case he says "You need a new XXXXXX for $$$$$!"
Thanks -

1&2= .5-.6 ohms
1&3= 1.4-1.6
1&4= 2.5-2.8
Also test the connector for power with a voltmeter. |

so should I just say "I think it's the blower resistor"? One person I talked to said it could be one of the "relay switches" -- I don't know what that means . . .
I appreciate your advice.

Thanks for the opening line -- that helps -- but I have no way of knowing then if they DO get it right. You think it's something called the blower resistor? If he says I need a new this and that, I won't know what to say.
thanks -

You were absolutely right -- it was the blower resistor -- charged me 70 for the part and 52 for labor. I appreciate your advice, and I will use this service again!
