1998 Mazda 626 4 cyl

My check engine light was on for a day, then it went off. I recently just passed the vehicle emissions test after that. Now the engine light is back on. When I stop ometimes the car will stall then pull off real hard when I accelarate. Also will driving the idle will go up real fast and back to normal causing the car to kind of stall while driving. Also when I back up, the car will just shut off.
