It is hit or miss whether I can start the truck, occasioanlly fine other times I turn the key and nothing happens. no lights, nothing. Is this a battery or an altinator issue. Wanted to check if it was only the battery prior to taking it in unnecessarily

When nothing happens do you have to jump it, or do you try again later and things are ok? You may check for corrosion or loosness at the battery cables.
