Engine Cooling problem

i just replaced the belt and pulley on my sisters car,the tension seems fine but the car is overheating after about two miles. the belt broke on her and she drove it to work about three miles the other day. i dont see any white smoke, checked the oil so i dont believe its the head gasket,the belts on right, so it must be a thermostat or radiator problem....right???
