Engine Performance problem
1998 Hyundai Accent 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 125000 miles

I recently bought a 98 accent it was not really taken care of so the first thing iwas goined to do is tune, water pump, timing belt etc. the engine had so much caked on oil from the valve cover gasket leaking for a long time, so i whent to a power wash with a brush and cleaned the heck out of it befor i started maintenance. after cleaning it started to have no power under a load and would miss when you gave it gas, there is no distributor cap and the wires were dried out and i am pretty sure i did not get water in the intake can you help me out this i am at a stand still don't know what direction to go thanks
