Engine Performance problem

I was told that my car blew a rod. Cause it won't start imediately anymore unless I play with the gas pedal when starting it and when I am driving you can hear the rod knocking against the engine. It happened when I found out that my car was low on oil but when I checked to see with the problem was it has very little oil in it. What is the problem and how much would it possibly cost me total?

2.7...get a motor.

Why was the oil low? That can kill any engine.

If the car is in decent shape, I reccomend a Jasper motor. $4000 as a guess.

Other wise a used motor, $2000 as a guess.
