Transmission problem
1998 Audi A6 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 114000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I recently purchased a 1998 Audi A6 with about 114k miles. After leaving the lot I discovered that there is no response from the car when I put the transmission in tiptronic. The car works just fine using the automatic tranny and shifts smoothly, but I can not tell that anything different is happening when I use the tiptronic. I've read on some forums that the transmission fluid may need changing but that it's not worth changing the tiptronic fluid on vehicles with higher mileage. Is this true? Could dirty fluid be what's causing my tiptronic failure? Or is it maybe something electrical like a fuse or something? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
