1998 Audi A4 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 100000 miles

1998 Audi A4 Quattro, 100000 miles. After leaving my car sitting for several hours, whenever I try to drive it has a very poor acceleration and loss of power for the first mile or so. I can try to push the accelerator harder, but it only increases the rpms and the car still won't go any faster. After a mile or so down the road, it starts driving normal. If it sits for less than 2-3 hours, this problem does not occur, or is not near as bad.

I would be getting the transmission serviced first., as it sound like a fault with in the auto.
