Electrical problem
1997 Volkswagen Golf 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 200000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
well, it started this morning after i got to school, it did not have this problem when i got up and drove it
the problem: Alarm keeps arming, and since the power locks "stopped" working, i cant seem to disarm it. if its going off, i can stop it from honking, but the alarm instantly arms itself again, i cant stop it from arming
we dont know whats causing it, and believe its related to the power locks not working.
only 1 fuse was blown, and that was the interior lights/luggage/cig lighter fuse, which we replaced with a 30a fuse, and now it doesnt blow, but the locks still wont work, and the alarm still arms itself. which also stops me from being able to start the car at all
could it possibly be a relay? ive checked all the fuses, their good, the wiring behind the fuse box is a total disaster, but i didnt do litterly anything that would jar a wire lose
also would like to point out everything except the power locks work, there isnt even a response from the switch on the dash, i dont have a voltmeter to test voltage either, which complicates things
anyone know of a possible solution? or should i check all of the relays?
