Electrical problem
1997 Toyota 4Runner 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 84000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I had what I thought was a small electrical problem, the lights were turning on/off by themselves. Took the car to the shop and they said when service tech replaced my windshield 3 years ago it was not sealed properly and water leaked into the dashboard damaging the wiring harness. They pulled the dash panel off and gave me an estiamte of $6,000 to repair. The vehicle is low mileage and I love it. It has never left me stranted. This was the dealer's estimate. Is this amount reasonable? $2,500 was labor. What else can I do or go? We don't know where else to bring the car or what type of repair shop?

Hi mscreole,

I would get a second or third opinion. Seems the price quoted is very high.

A used unit is worth between 6,000 to 6,800 so do you think 6k is justified?
