Engine Cooling problem

The engine temperature on my car keeps rising, but the engine never overheats. It comes close, but never overheats. I've had the water pump replaced about a year ago. My radiator and fluids are fine. I'm curious to know if anything's really wrong now..should i get it looked at before something really bad happens?
