1997 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 134 K miles

Hi, when we try to start my sons Grand Am you have to slightly step on the gas for it to start and when it does start you have to keep your foot on the gas for about 5-10 seconds or it will die right away. I changed the plugs and fuel filter and it runs a lot better but still has a hard time starting. There is no popping of the spark plug wires which i checked at night to ensure there were no cracks in the wiring while the car was running. Thanks', Ant'z
