I know nothing about cars. I was told my car jumped time and it would be $500 just to look at it. Before I do this I would like to know what that means and how it is usually fixed.

You Benz is chain driven cams and distributor cant jump a tooth under normal conditions, i would like to know what your original problem was, and i would suggest that you get a second opinion on this because if the timing chain has caused the timing to be out so will the cams, and to fix this is far more than what you have been quoted it look at it, go get the second opinion first.
