1997 Nissan Altima 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 95,000 miles

Hello,
My question is about the knock sensor, When i went to do my inspection, he technician said the knock sensor is causing a problem to pass the inspection. he went on to say he cleared it and i have to drive 40 - 50 miles to reset it in order for him to pass the inspection. What do you guys think about it?
