Engine Cooling problem
1988 BMW 525 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 285000 miles

fan is really loud when running. otherwise, car`runs very nicely for its age. is the loud fan normal, or is it just an age problem, or.... i do live in far north queensland, so the heat up here could be an issue...

This sounds like the fan clutch has locked up solid and you should consider replacement of the clutch.
